Susan M. McNeal of Choteau passed away July 22, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving sisters and her cousin. She was 60 years old.
Susan was born July 1, 1959 in Brookings, South Dakota, one of seven children, to Earl and Mary Linneman.  She graduated from Clark High School in 1977 and attended South Dakota State University, St. Cloud State University and University of Minnesota, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife.
Sue began her career as a Wildlife Biologist managing refuges for National Wildlife Refuges, which included Minnesota Valley Wildlife Refuge in Minneapolis, MN, Crab Orchard, Illinois and Port Louisa Refuge, IA, before locating to the Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in Lima, MT.  She moved to East Helena in 1996 and started working for the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program and moved to Choteau in 2015.  Sue also attended federal law enforcement training in Glynco, GA and Marana, AZ.
She was awarded the Weed Fighter of the Year for 2008 and 2013 by the Montana Weed Control Association.  She also received an award for Dedication and Service to the Region 6 Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program as well as an award for conservation efforts within the Crown of the Continent.
Sue had a deep love for her dogs, Molly, Prairie and Sara and her horses Rex, Scout, Aspen and Mae.  She enjoyed riding in the mountains, hiking, fishing, hunting with her dogs, cross country skiing, art and music.  She was the Treasurer for the Front Range Art Association, Youth Teacher at Choteau Baptist Church and founding member of the Rocky Mountain Front Weed Roundtable to help control noxious weeds in Montana.
Susan is survived by her mother, Mary Linneman, siblings Judy Hawke, Robert (Robin) Linneman, Cathy Linneman, Amy Mathis, Sandy Bebo (Curtis Jandel) and Matt (Jessica) Linneman as well as 15 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews.
Susan is preceded in death by her father Earl Linneman, brother-in-law James Hawke and infant brother John William Linneman.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 27th at 10:00 am at the Choteau Baptist Church, 211 2nd St. NW.  A luncheon and fellowship will follow from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the church hall.
