Marty was born on June 5, 1949, in Great Falls, Montana, to Maxine Depner and Art (Bud) Gruenhagen.  She grew up and attended schools in Great Falls, MT.  Throughout the years, she worked as a caregiver to the elderly.

Marty was united in marriage to Albert Bruno, Jr., on Sept. 17, 1977, in Cascade, Montana.  They had one daughter, Michele (Missy), which was their pride and joy.
