Alice Truchot, Age 87, of Choteau, MT, died of cancer at the Extended Living Unit, Teton Medical Center on August 27, 2013.

Born April 15, 1926, in Choteau, Montana, she was the daughter of Robert and Edith (Watson) Van Scherpenzeel. She attended schools in Choteau, graduating from Choteau High School in 1944.

Alice married Francis Truchot in Choteau in October 1944. The couple spent the next 35 years farming and ranching north of Choteau; retiring briefly in California, and returning to Choteau in 1980.  The couple enjoyed their travels throughout Montana and the United States visiting family, historical sites and the m any natural wonders that are available to the public. Alice and Francis never tired of seeing the mountains west of Choteau, the prairie soil and wildflowers, rolling foot-hills painted with jack-pine, picturesque creeks and rivers, and the abundance of wildlife in the area. Alice enjoyed being outside working in the garden or tending the yard to attract the various birds and wildlife. It was the small things in life that gave her comfort and pleasure, the smell of a wild rose, a panorama of autumn leaves, or the sound of whispering pines.

Her interests included cooking, sewing, yard work, china-painting, gardening and handicrafts.

Survivors include: sister, Edith Caywood of Lewistown, Montana; sons, Dwight (Diane) Truchot of Billings, Montana and Gary (Paula) Truchot of Sedona, Arizona; daughter, Roberta "Bobbie" (Gary) Washburn of Reno, Nevada; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband (Francis_), parents, brother (Robert), sister (Wilma Jensen), and sister (Katherine Runkel)

Alice requested no services. She will be buried at the Choteau Cemetery next to Francis, where they will rest together in eternal peace under the Montana western sky and the grandeur of their beloved Rocky Mountains.

Dear Family,
Alice was a neighbor and good friend to my parents for many years. She watched out for my mother, Mable Rice, after my dad died always checking to see if she opened her curtains each morning. I know you have many good memories of her and yet it's hard to say good-bye. May God comfort all of you at this time. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
With deepest sympathy,
Phyllis and Ray Yeager
