John was born July 21, 1927 in Lead, South Dakota the only child to Harry Otto and Ella (Brickle) March.  John was able to see quite a bit of country side moving around when he was young.  His family lived in South Dakota, Missouri and Wyoming.  John graduated high school in 1945 and soon after met and married Deloris “Jean” Bonifield.  The couple had eight children.  in 1954 John and his family made the move to Montana where they settled in Great Falls.

After Jean’s death in 1997 he continued being a snow bird until in 2015 he settled in Choteau at the Skyline Lodge.  He lived at Skyline until in March of 2021 he became ill and moved to Teton Peak Assisted Living.

John enjoyed fishing, telling stories and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He loved waffles and chocolate pie but above all else he loved spending time with his family.

John is survived by his children John (Susan) March, Gwyn Caputo, Ron (Christal) March, Jim (Jan) March, Harry (Lynelle) March, Karen (Scott) Greenup, Sherry (Rod) Schye and Shelly (Troy) Spang as well as 30 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
