Trysten Mark Fellers

September 21, 1998 ~ May 14, 2021 (age 22)

Obituary

Trysten Mark Fellers, 22, of Fairfield, was killed very early May 14, 2021 in a homicide trying to prevent drunk driving.

Trysten was born September 21, 1998 in Great Falls, MT to Rory and Earl (Sonny) Fellers of Fairfield, MT, their only child.  He grew up in Fairfield, moving with his parents to the family farm in 2008. Summers were spent helping gramps put up hay, fishing in the ponds with his best friend Dawson, and driving trucks around the place. He attended school at Fairfield Elementary, Golden Ridge and in 6th grade found his home at Augusta School, graduating in 2017. Academics was not his greatest joy, but he loved school and made it fun, greeting Miss Cindy at the front door with a mischievous goofy grin and messy hair – his trademark look. He could often be found welding in the shop, helping the teachers, and giggling.

Trysten played football, basketball, saxophone in band and sang in the choir all 7 years in Augusta. He was a determined athlete and musician, having a stellar Senior Year in Augusta, earning academic all-state honors in Football, won the football Leadership Award, Most Improved Defensive Player in basketball, Most Improved Vocalist in Choir, State Music Festival awards, Most Improved GPA for the entire high school, and was voted Homecoming King and Prom King by his fellow students. His senior class selected him Best Hair (of course!), Best Truck and Most Likely to Brighten Your Day. He was very proud to be an Elk.

Trysten attended GFC-MSU after high school, earning his welding certificate in May 2018. Trysten was his dad’s right-hand man at HL Ventures, running heavy equipment, pulling loads, and welding and fabrication.

From the time he could walk, Trysten loved trucks and tractors. Playing with trucks and tractors, shopping for trucks, then driving trucks and buying trucks. The louder the better – no exhaust system was safe! The farm tractors have quite a light bar setup because of him. He put his signature on every single truck he owned – everyone knew his truck on the street. He loved a good drive to the mountains, getting a load of firewood, eating hotdogs by a campfire, camping, four-wheeling, and jet-skiing on the lake.

In 2020, Trysten found the forever love of his life, Josie Moline of Geraldine. They were inseparable from the start. They were engaged by July and to be married July 24, 2021. He was so excited for that day – they had big dreams and he couldn’t wait to get started. He was also returning to working the family farm, bringing Josie along in the lifelong dream to take it over from his gramps.

Trysten leaves behind his parents Rory & Sonny Fellers, his fiancée Josie Moline, grandparents Mark & Karen Hansen, aunt Rene’ Peters (Mitchell) and their kids Remington, Gunnar and Oakley, all of Fairfield, MT; grandmother Donna Carrier of Choteau, MT; aunt Tammy Mathews of Choteau, MT; uncle Robby Mathews of Choteau, MT; great-grandmother Lorraine Dauwalder of Fairfield, MT; lots of extended family, especially in the Fairfield and Choteau areas; friends who were like family and everyone that he loved.

He was preceded in death by his beloved uncle Tommy Fellers, uncle Donald Mathews, grandfathers Walter “Sonnyboy” Carrier and Charles Fellers, great-grandfather Richard Dauwalder and great-grandparents Harry & Elsie Agee.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 26, 2021 at 4:30pm in Augusta, MT on the football field.

“Life is made of two dates and a dash – make the most of the dash.” Trysten made the most of that dash from the day he was born. Memorials are suggested to the Trysten Fellers Scholarship Fund.
